Commonwealth game
The commonwealth game is a big competition which gather a
lot of different sports included gymnastic. All Commonwealth members can
participate. They started in 1930 and in 2014 they were in Glasgow. It seems
like the Olympic Games but with fewer countries.
Cara Kennedy was with four other girls in the Scotland
team: Erin MCLACHLAN, Amy REGAN, Carty Smith and Emma White. By team they
finished 5th in the general competition. She made three of the four apparatus: vault, floor and beam. Cara Kennedy did not
participate to the individual competition, but the first gymnast was Claudia
FRAGAPANE, she comes from England.
It was not very easy for Cara to be select in the
Scottish team because they were a lot of suitor (around ten in the Glasgow
gymnastic club). To participate to this competition, the gymnast has to be more
than 16 years old. Cara succeed a lot of competition the year before the Commonwealth
game, that why she was selected. The around age was between 16-20 years old.
She felt very exiting by her participation, it was great
for her to represent her country. It was a very big competition with a high
level of gymnastic. Cara felt little and nervous in this big competition but it
was a very beautiful experience for her.
For the moment she does not have the Olympic game
objectives, neither European competition, but she does not want to stop now
gymnastic and she will continue to make competition in Scotland with her level
as far as she can.
